The Power of Green

Advertisements

No, I’m not talking about money…well not directly. I’m talking green hair. Anytime I’ve customized a doll with green hair and then offer her up for sale or even before she’s been offered up, the doll gets snatched up pretty fast.

This pretty girl in the picture is my customized Simply Peppermint, Agua.  Alas, she’s mine no longer and is actually on her way to Australia.  ‘

I wasn’t initially planning on selling her but the previous doll I finished up, Frankie Freckle Face, became too irresistible to sell so I decided to keep her for now.  And after an impulse buy or two,  I had to put another girl in her place.  Agua volunteered. My house is too crazy for her I guess.

I will miss her.  However,  I’m waiting for a factory doll,(impulse buy,)  that has Amaryllis’ hair and I’ve been itching to add her to my collection. Plus since this doll is a factory/prototype doll, I don’t have to feel guilty about customizing her since Amaryllis is quite expensive.

Back to green hair. I guess it’s no coincidence that of all the fantasy colors CWC uses, different shades of green seems to be one of the most frequently used. Pink is actually used the most for fantasy colors and then I think green is next.

Frankie Freckle Face

This is a new girl I sneaked in some time to work on.  She’s a custom Primadolly Winsome Willow. As her name suggests, her face is covered in freckles.  She doesn’t like to wear make-up but I managed to convince her that some blush and lip gloss would look nice. Of course, it had to be flavored lip gloss.

I gave her this girlie haircut, four new sets of eye-chips and she’s been gaze adjusted, boggled and sleep eyed. Her eyelashes match her hair color.

I’ll probably make her available soon. She’s kind of irresistible. Just deciding on what to dress her in. For some reason I’m thinking Brady Bunch but that’s because Winsome Willow reminds me of Marsha Marsha Marsha when her hair is uncut. She does have that 70’s look about her.

The neverending re-roots

Here is my latest commission I finished. She was a Piccadilly Encore and her owner wanted her to have new hair and new make-up. I gave her a high color palette. Hard to believe she was a PiccaE.

Well, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and I have decided that I won’t be accepting any new commissions for a while. I continue to get further and further behind and put off my own personal projects or I feel guilty when I take time to work on personal projects.

Initially, I kept thinking once I finished with all the commissions, then I could work on my own creations. It seems that I always had some coming in which I’m grateful for. However, as an artist I always want to try new things and explore different possibilities so I have to accept my limitations and there are only so many hours in the day.

I will finish everyone on my list and once those are done I will be closed for any new commissions indefinitely. It makes me a little sad but it’s been long overdue.

I plan to practice more sewing and coming up with designs to dress my future ooak Blythes. Maybe I’ll get back into painting. Maybe I’ll try something completely new. Maybe I’ll be able to write more and keep up with this blog and getting better at photography. Whatever it is, it will be something creative and hopefully open new possibilities.
