Kindred Spirits

Today’s momoko is my Cafe Au Lait. She’s had a few incarnations. First I repainted her, then I rerooted her and repainted her again. Now she’s up for sale on eBay. I just adore her now. I always say that when I’m done with these cuties but I mean it everytime.

It’s hard for me to tell if the pictures came out because my computer’s fan broke and now I’m using my husband till the new fan arrives. Glad he knows a lot about computers being that it is his day job. I had to remember all my passwords and such because my other computer had that all set up. But I’m back up and running if a little disoriented with a different monitor.

So being in this dolly world- especially with Momokos, you get to meet a lot of great people on-line and it’s such an international community. The real eye-opening thing is a lot of these collectors are also artists like myself. They have similar interests and they know how to take wonderful pictures of their dolls because they obviously have an artistic eye. I don’t feel so alone and freakish anymore. Or if I am freakish, it’s the good arty kind. The offbeat or more syncopated kind. Something about these dolls must be a kind of muse for us artistic types. Looking back while growing up, I used to doodle eyes allover my notebook in school. and eventually turn these doodles into mini portraits. It’s almost as if I’ve been practicing for the doll repaints I now do. The eyes were the same size and I must have doodled hundreds of them instead of paying attention in class.

So it’s been a pleasure connecting and hearing from those of you that share my enthusiasm for those irresistible Momokos and other fun and funky dolls.

Another Gretel

9-5 reroot

I just love this new reroot. I like to keep it simple and have hair to brush and play with so I don’t usually attempt fancy styles. But it’s nice to have the flexibilty to put her hair up or down. A lot of times when you buy a doll with it’s hair up it’s hiding lots of bald spots. It’s meant to stay in that style but invariably most of us doll nuts like to take their hair down and do something different with it.

I just listed another Obitsu Gretel head on eBay. She’s such a pretty face mold. She’d be pretty even for a resin mold. Click here or on the photo to view or bid.

Plans are in the works for me to create my own ball-jointed doll. I will probably model it after my girls who are the most beautiful living dolls you’ll ever see. But I’m their mom so of course I’m biased. But they both have some classic features that are doll like. It will be interesting to see how this turns out so stay tuned…

New momo reroot

you like my hair?

Here’s Nine to Five momoko rerooted as a blonde. Another all weekend project but I always love the results. They get a new head of hair that’s silky soft instead of stiff and unmanageable. The hair on the Sekiguchi momokos tend to be that way and a new head of hair takes an o.k. doll to a new favorite. And this is another one I planned on selling but again not so sure… I think I’ll enjoy her for a little bit and again if anyone is interested in buying her just contact me.

I have my obitsu mahoghany head up for sale on eBay right now. Click here or the picture to view or bid.
