OMG I bought a Kenner

Going to Vegas!

Well, I’m getting ready for my Vegas jaunt here and finished a re-root to bring with me. I’d like to get some more done but also have commissions to work on at the same time. This is Good Night Cherry re-rooted in Cognac Katsilk. She’s still so sweet as the original Good Night Cherry. I also painted her lips because the baby pink lips didn’t quite go with the reddish hair.

So I was surfing eBay Saturday and by some stroke of luck someone just listed a brunette Kenner Blythe with a BIN of $400 which I think, other than running accross one at a garage sale for 2 bucks, is supposed to be a pretty good deal. I snatched it as fast as I could and can only hope for the best as far as the condition not being too too horrible. Her body looked to be in good shape but her face has yellowing and she has no pull string so I don’t know if everything works as it should. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that she’s in easily restorable condition. Although I seen worse be restored amazingly beautiful so hopefully she’ll be one of those wonderful afters soon. My main concern is the yellowing skin. I hope it can be sanded off and isn’t too deep into the plastic. Keeping my fingers crossed…

But of course, since I took that plunge,(although it wasn’t too horrible of a plunge,) I have to sell off some other dolls to make up for it. I ended up selling my beloved hazy wind orange re-root that I made to look like BT06 black. She hasn’t been getting a lot of attention and I almost sold her in the past when people approached me about her. A really nice fellow momoko enthusiast I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with before bought her. So, she’ll be off to her new home shortly. I’ll miss her but my collection is a little past my saturation point of interest. It’s like with my kid’s toys, if there are too many that are out they don’t play with any because it’s too overwhelming. That’s what my momoko collection has turned to. And if I’m not careful, my Blythe collection may follow.

Off to get some dolly work done! Bye for now 🙂

It’s hot and humid

So all I can do is work on my dollies and tend to my living dollies indoors! Here is my PiccaE who has gone through several changes over time. Now she’s done I think and I will offer her up for sale so contact me if interested or wait for her to show up on my sale page at my website. I’ve also been working on Prima dolly Ginger and here she is so far…

Ginger

I may do more with her hair but not sure yet. So here’s a group shot of my custom Blythes and I’m just starting to contemplate letting go of a few but it’s not easy.

All my customs

As you can see there are 5 girls there. I can’t justify keeping 5. So I have to let some of them go. My ebony is finally going to end up on my sale page so again check back. I’d like to get a few more pics of them first before I list them but feel free to ask questions if interested in any of these lovely ladies.

In momoko land I have several re-roots in the works. Some commissions and some that I will bring to the Asian Fashion doll party in Vegas during IFDC. I will only be at the party as I’m just doing a quick gettaway from family life. Hopefully next year I can go for the whole thing. Who know? I look forward to this quick trip and must thank Iveta, a loyal customer and fellow momoko enthusiast for inviting me. It will be fun to hook up with all the dolly fans like myself and basically play dolls with them 🙂

Here’s a work in progress for Iveta. She was a Wild ‘n Sexy tune but doesn’t she look so much better and exotic with black hair? Again another fabulous choice of Iveta’s. Just waiting for the cut and style instruction and then I’ll be able to post more of this exotic beauty. I like her like this but I think it’s just because of the hair color improvement makes such a dramatic difference.

Load of Blythes!

Custom V-smash

Well today my doll of the day is my new custom V-Smash. My friend’s husband is loaning me his top of the line airbrush so I’ve been learning to use it on non other than Blythe! I think,(I hope,) once I get the hang of it my custom face-ups will go a lot faster and look more professional. Plus I really don’t like using Mr. Super Clear to seal the make-up because I’ve noticed it attracts dirt and being that I like to beable to play with these dolls and have a house full of animals and kids, I can’t have anything dirt attracting because it is everywhere in my house. So here’s my first custom using an airbrush. I just love her and am having a hard time letting go of her. I got her for the intention of reselling but this isn’t working out very well so far as I keep wanting to keep them! I’m sure eventually I’ll let some go. This is a new addiction for me so maybe it will take a little more time than it did with Momokos to let them go.

So I got a shipment of Blythes, (including v-smash above…) last week. 5 dolls to be exact! The idea was to customize some for re-sale. Like I said, not doing too well with the reselling. I got 4 from yahoo japan through Crescent. They’re really the best I think and they only charge actual shipping so by having it all shipped together I saved on the shipping costs where it was more like $15 per doll as opposed to $25 or $30 per doll. Some actually have the nerve to charge $50 in shipping. I’m surprised they’re a powerseller and I urge everyone PLEASE SHOP AROUND! In fact, the seller that charges $50 to ship a doll from Hong Kong gets some of their dolls off yahoo japan. I’ve seen their screen name- same as on eBay. So… EBay is not always the best place and some sellers take advantage of the high shipping costs. For example, I bought some shoes from another seller in Hong Kong and being that shoes are light, their shipping for 1 pair was $3.50. I thought, well, I’ll get several pairs to save on shipping from Hong Kong. I asked for the combine shipping rate and it ended up costing $12 in shipping for 2 pairs of shoes and 2 dresses. I thought that was a rip off but went ahead and paid. It came in an envelope and I somehow doubt is cost $12 bucks to ship. I probably won’t be buying from that seller again.

So that’s my vent for the day. I try to see what’s on yahoo japan first before going through eBay. Actually the most reasonable seller of all is Gina Garan, the person responsible for Blythe’s resurrection. But she sells out quickly because she is the best. I got my new Merry Skier from her. Super fast shipping too! When I sell through eBay I only charge actual shipping. Sometimes I may add a dollar handling fee because of shipping supplies but other than that the customer is paying what I pay and not a penny more. I only wish other sellers would do the same for me and other customers instead of trying to scam us.

Well after all this venting I thought I should include more pictures of my super cute V-Smash that I’m supposed to sell but can’t seem to do it just yet… Of course, I’m willing to take offers to those that fall in love with her too…;-)
