Famous last words…

Previews

I have closed my commission book for a bit so I can get ready for IFDC at the end of July. I took a break in between commissions here and did this Volks Dollfie man head. Then I gave him a razor cut and I think my Momokos are going to fight over him. I’m planning on bringing him IFDC and have some other doll heads to work on so I can offer them up for sale.

So, as I said in my title “famous last words” because in my last post I said I wasn’t into the bigger ball-jointed dolls and then after finishing my face-up on Sooah, I felt like playing with her. I put a black wig on her and she turned completely asian and really cool looking so I going to style her up in more street clothes with a punk goth type theme and will also bring her to the convention. I may even try to make clothes but I’m still a beginner in sewing and have lots to learn. I guess working on Sooah and getting her face-up just right brought out her personality and I guess we “bonded” as they say in the doll world.

Stay tuned for more face-ups on the smaller Obitsu and Volk’s dolls. 🙂

Ball-jointed Mania

008

I’ve had 60 cm resin ball-jointed dolls sitting in work pile for some time. Sooah here was a birthday present from hubby- well more like a gift certificate which I picked out this girl thinking I may be interested in a doll this size. But she sai in a box not made-up and here she finally is finished. I think as far as the resin dolls are concerned I prefer the tinies so I’m adopting this one out. I enjoyed doing her face-up though and am trying to hone my skills in that area. I finally got the tricks and techniques and am very pleased with how she came out. I also redid my DIM Persia head…

SOLD
Again, sitting in the not played with pile so I will also adopt him/her out. I just prefer little dolls and when they get bigger than 11 inches tall, I lose interest. I don’t have the room for dolls this size with little hands wanting to grab and tug so it’s just not practical. They are lovely to look at in pictures so I’ll just enjoy them from that angle.

Working on these dolls was a nice change of pace from re-rooting. I have stuff waiting to be done and will tackle those this weekend. But I have to break it up so as not to get burnt out. Here’s my latest re-root. Just a simple one but less is more sometimes. I also changed her eye color, eyebrow color, added lashes and freckles.

Mom would be proud…

009

There’s lots to catch up on since it’s been a while since I’ve updated. In between then I completed four customs. One of which is this Rainy Day Parade above. The customer was looking for a melancholy goth girl and RDP is a great base for that with her jet black hair. I also made her dress from the “All Spruced Up” dress pattern at Puchi Collective. It was my first dress with sleeves and a collar. Being the novice sewer that I am I got stuck on the sleeves. I had no idea how to attach them and spent an entire evening trying to figure out how it was supposed to go together. After some trial and error I finally figured it out but went ahead and left the first dress as the practice dress and made another one for this doll. There were some happy accidents along the way and I think I’ll have to make more dresses so I can get the hang of the sleeves and collar. I think mom will be impressed but I won’t let her look at the stitching or anything like that 😉

Again, I obsessed over my Lati face-up and ended up redoing her eye-brows. Now she’s done. I will leaver her alone and focus on making her some more clothes. That and some clothes for 2 more Latis– Lumi and a Cat Coco. They probably won’t arrive till the end of April. Gah, the wait!

the eyebrows are done!

And finally I did a different doll for a re-root. One of the new Dynamite Girls- Aria. She’s been given and razor cut with my new razor cutting tool that was suggested to me by a hairdresser. I loved using it and it was so easy to get this nice look that’s modeled after an Ashlee Simpson hairdo the customer referenced me to.

Have a great weekend!
